Charcoal Arts

The Realism in my Art
The image above has some realism in it, it is mainly because of the wrinkles on the face that highlights the age of the man. Yeah and the main point is the areas which have some charcoal effect and some areas with no charcoal effect, representing the surfaces with a bump or a raised skin spot. Its all about shading, as i use only charcoal to create masterpieces. The main objective is to fill the area with charcoal shade to represent the darker area of a certain surface.
The second main thing to focus on is the cheek bones of a certain face you are about to draw. Basically what i think is that the cheek bones are the sources which creates the inner main body of a sketch making it look a lot like a real body.
I usually begin my art from the eyes because i believe ending a sketch on eyes will basically bore you and you would end up with a messed up sketch. Well it is upon you because many artists do end up with eyes with an even more better result than beginning with them. :) So the main pupil of the eye should be visible a little or more depending on the brightness of the area the main body is sitting, and the direction of the light which is focusing on the face. It is definitely not necessary for the pupil to be visible in a dark environment.

The next thing is the iris which is to be lighter than the pupil as usual specially if the opposite person has a colored eye. The point to remember is that there is a shining spot on the eye which is the reflection and is most probably found on an eye 90%. This means that mostly there is a small spot of reflection on the iris which is to be left uncolored to represent the shine a.k.a reflection.

The nose is the main thing which is to be focused on and if this is made properly, your sketch is 30% complete. Now most probably people want to know that how to give a nose, a realistic effect. I call it, the effect that represents the out-coming top of the nose. Again, this part has usually the most shine, and specially if the person has an oily skin, the top will be left uncolored to represent its shine a.k.a the reflection. :).
The Lips are not so difficult for me, but a main tip I feel like suggesting you is that lips always have those crack like scars, (Not really scars, but i would also call them creases) which have to be drawn dark. Once again any liquid on the lip or i must call it, a moist lip, will have to be drawn with a same uncolored spot to represent the wet or moist spot shine.

Finally with the Hair stuff. I find this as the most interesting part of my art, as i use a charcoal and an eraser to draw it. Color all the area of hair with dark charcoal like as a beginner does. and the the shiny part of the hair should be Highlighted using the eraser and this gives an 80% realistic effect. The rest 20% is the unbrushed hair :) which remains scrambled out on the tip of the head as you can see in the image above. These are the basics of drawing a sketch of a human face. I hope you liked it and it helped you, and please subscribe as in in my next upcoming posts, i will post some damn interesting tutorial on drawing anamorphic 3D art, also called, art coming out of the paper. :) Thankyou and i have a video tutorial for those who do not like to read much, this tutorial is on drawing a realistic nose. Thankyou once again, please subscribe. And do ask me any question about drawing.
